About
From a young age I was quite fond of computers and how they worked. I soon became the family go-to guy to fix problems with their technology: helping relatives set up their TVs, migrating from old to new cellphones, showing them how to access Google on their PCs, and accidentally installing malware on their PCs, because I was 10 at the time. This is also how I cultivated my googling skills to remove the aforementioned malware.
For me optimisation is key, and I am always excited to find new and better ways to optimise advanced and day-to-day tasks.
Projects
- A reconciliation and ETL project for a financial institution that branched out into reporting on various data
- Multiple data warehouse projects, from developing a new system to maturing it and supporting the legacy system with optimisation and enhancements
- Software that integrates with financial platforms such as Sage, Xero and QuickBooks
- SSRS reports with dynamic filters
- Landing legacy systems in the current warehouse architecture and re-creating the file streams and reports
- Creating and improving MDS objects
- SSIS projects ranging from basic staging and extraction to complex packages with custom C# components, to work around the limits of the SSIS version
- Dynamic stored procedures that back up data or backload time-sensitive data
Outside of work
I love to play games on PC, Switch and PlayStation, and the occasional Dungeons & Dragons campaign. I enjoy fishing and absolutely love advancements in technology. Another passion of mine is amateur network engineering at home: destroying my home network with a single click, but I always get it back, and I learn something new about MikroTik routers.
